Google has reinforced that the Huawei-made Nexus 6P & LG-made Nexus 5X don’t offer support for apt-X Bluetooth streaming, a different feature that the company’s expected mobile OS – Android O – provides.
The confirmation arrived in the form a reply from a Google developer to a question embedded by a user about the company’s issue tracker website.
Here’s what the developer stated: “Sadly, apt-X and apt-X HD are not backed on Nexus Xp and Nexus 6p – only on current devices.”
For those who aren’t informed, apt-X is a proprietary streaming protocol currently occupied by Qualcomm. In layman’s terms, it is beamed at producing better audio over Bluetooth. Qualcomm claims apt-X audio enables “CD-like quality” wireless audio.
